Want to be Proactive with Your Eye Health?
Regular eye exams are the key.
It is common to put off going to the doctor if you are not experiencing any problems. However, just like regular health screenings like mammograms and physicals are necessary to keep you healthy, regular eye exams are vitally important to protect your precious vision. In general, we recommend most healthy patients have eye exams every 1-2 years. If you have a family history of eye disease or another health issue that may affect your vision, more frequent exams may be necessary.
Eye exams at the Eye Center of Northern Colorado are done to determine if you need glasses or if you need a new prescription; they are also performed to detect underlying problems that you may not know are occurring in your vision. Conditions like glaucoma and cataracts often have no symptoms in the early stages. The longer these conditions go without treatment, the more your vision can be in serious jeopardy.
As an additional bonus, eye doctors may also detect signs of underlying health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, or other medical conditions.
